Despite Dana White saying 'he's done', reports suggest GSP is about to make his comeback

The former UFC welterweight champion has been out of the Octagon for two years.

ONLY LAST MONTH, UFC president Dana White said there was no chance of George St-Pierre making a comeback to the sport, telling Lorenzo Fertitta that the former welterweight champion was ‘done’ following his controversial victory over Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 back in November 2013.

“I’ve been dealing with athletes since I was 19-years-old, and I saw it in his face after the Johny Hendricks fight. We went back stage and we talked — you can ask Lorenzo — I looked at Lorenzo that night, and I said GSP is done,” White recalled in an interview with Off the Record.

However, it looks like White may have misread the 34-year-old’s intentions as Canadian Radio station FM93 Québec reported last night that GSP was about to announce his return to the UFC soon.

The tweet reads: “Dan Pou (a Canadian sports journalist) has learned that Georges St-Pierre will announce his return to active competition in the UFC in the coming days.”

Neither GSP nor the UFC has responded to the tweet but the fighter himself has indicated in recent months that he may be ready to return, telling Reseau de sports:

I’m starting to get the feeling, more and more, to come back. I watch the fights to see what’s going on in my division, and I’m staying in shape. It’s like a knife that I have to keep sharp just in case I ever decide to jump back in the mix.”
